What you see here is a spider (or radar) chart. We are comparing the OEM bike vs different Aurora Layouts that we have in our range. There are five areas of interest.
1. Ergonomics. This is your instrument layout. Are they in a better position? Easier to see? Higher is better.
2.Protection. This is protection from the elements and is based on our own tests and feedback from customers. The highr the protection, the higher the number.
3. Lights. OEM lights are fully legal. In our kits not only you upgrade the lights, but you can install full off-road LED units for max performance.
4.Weight. That's a necessary evil. We remove and we add parts on the bikes and the net effect is sometimes a heavier bike, or in the case of our Superlight kit a lighter bike.
5. Racing. Get ready to race! Higher is better.

History
Back in May 2016, we were contacted by Christopher Cork (owner of Unit 31 fabrications, Aurora UK dealer) with a request to make a navigation tower for his 950 Rally Bike. Christopher was no stranger to us, he has participated in many rallies and has five podiums in the Twin Cylinder class:
- 2015 Hellas Rally – 2nd place
- 2016 Tuareg Rallye – 3rd place
- 2017 Tuareg Rallye – 1st place
- 2017 Morocco Desert Challenge – 1st place
- 2018 Sahara Rally (Algeria) – 2nd place
Christopher designed the Rally side panels for maximum resistance and ease of use during his rally races. The characteristic shape of these panels, exposes the lower triple clamp, allowing the rider to pull the bike in the dunes using straps without breaking the side panels. Once Christopher was done with his rally bike, he was kind enough to ship us the molds and that's how the rally kit for one of the most iconic bikes ever build started its life!

The rally side panels come straight out of racing. Their characteristic shape exposes the lower triple clamp, allowing the rider to pull the bike using straps from the lower triple during those tough dune situations!

Navigation Tower
We have been actively involved in the Rally scene since 2013. We happened to be one of the first companies in the field that was given access to the KTM® Carbon tower.
So much so, that we realized that its complexity could not simply be replicated by no 'local garage'. It can only be done by a professional, composite company.
Thus, remaining true to ourselves and our brand’s heritage, we have designed a navigation tower like no other.
Easy cable access, strong yet flexible to protect your valuable gear, this tower can be transformed either to a digital setup using HighwayDirtbikes unique iPad and iPhone cases, or to a rally cockpit using the winning Aurora Rally Equipment dedicated plates.
Materials have been chosen carefully to allow the assembly to be strong, yet flexible and always keep your equipment protected, even at a crash.

This is the only tower for 9x0 in the market that comes with preinstalled special rivet nuts making installation a real joy!
Everything comes pre-assembled
We firmly believe that you should enjoy the installation to the full and you should understand where everything goes. While videos and written manuals always assist, if the parts are pre-assembled you always have a visual of how this were meant to be put together! In Aurora 9×0, everything is pre-assembled. The kit can be installed in a few hours easily on the bike and off you go!
Do you lose functionality?
Well, for starters we must remember that this kit started in the rally field. But don’t be afraid, people keep arguing that a rally bike is not a traveler’s bike and vice versa. We tend to disagree. A rally rider needs to have a light bike, one that can be serviced easily, a bike that can be ‘undressed’ with ease.
Same goes for a traveler if you think about it. You need the bike to be light and agile, so you can control it with ease and to add more luggage. At the same time you need to service it with ease and have reliable, proofed parts even when you are in the middle of nowhere. If there is a challenge on the road, you need to fix it as soon as possible and continue your journey to your destination. So, in effect, the needs are almost the same.
Switch relocation
Try as we might we could not avoid the switch relocation. The KTM® main switch is moved to the tower in a specific location. That means that you lose the handlebar lock. This can be overcome by the following solution: You can buy another OEM KTM® switch, remove the electrical part (2 Phillips screws) and bolt the switch to the top triple clamp.
You get another key for the lock, but you have a fully locked bike should you wish to.
Racing
Should you want to race your bike, we have multiple solutions available. From toggle main switches, to back up plans should things go wrong. Just ask and we will be happy to help. Please not that you will not be able to use your OEM speedo with the rally setup.
Kit includes:
- KTM Rally Factory screen for improved visibility and aerodynamics.
- Navigation tower fully rally proofed from Christopher Cork, including street legal lights (Mainbeam; Hella projector main beam with halogen bulb. Highbeam; Hella LED high both directly from the KTM® Rally Factory bike)
- Navigation backplate that houses the KTM speedo (3D printed shading cover for the old type speedo)
- Aluminum bracket for the ECU on all 990 models.
- Side Panels (Adventure side panels, ABS molded, provided pre driller and painted with bolts and rubber washers. Rally side panels, made from fiberglass, provided painted with bolts and rubber washers).
- Plug n Play Electrical harness.
- QuickCharge 3.0 USB charger.
- Extra customization upon request (at extra cost).
Everything comes pre-assembled
Everything is straight forward and so the kit can be installed in two days easily on the bike!

The OEM switch needs to be relocated. You do not lose the steering lock functionality as we provide another locking main switch with a separate key.
